Tiger stripes we either love them or hate them.

Hi everyone,

Today’s blog is about a topic that most of us mums can relate to. It’s the way our body changes significantly during and after pregnancy. One of the things we often worry about is developing stretchmarks. I know when I was having my first son J I tried every lotion and potion to try and avoid them but in reality I was always going to get them as my skin was just like my mum’s and she had them from her pregnancies. So I embraced the change in my body and am proud to say my tiger stripes (stretchmarks) are a reminder of how I had my 3 beauties.

That said the appearance can be unsightly and I have found myself trying to hide my stomach especially when on holidays etc, so tried products such as bio oil to reduce the appearance.

Then 3 children later after ammy was born I was given the opportunity to try a new product on the market by the lovely people at Salcura. One of my favourite brands. I say this as I have used many of their skincare products already and trust this brand because their products are specially developed and kinder to skin.

So I want to share with you all what I have found after using this range for the last month.

Stretch Mark Therapy
Gotu Kola & Wild Rose Stretch Mark Oil
(r.r.p £16.99)

image

This is the oil it comes in a 30ml bottle with a pipette for easy application. I found the oil to be very light and a non-greasy formula which easily absorbs into the skin. You only need to apply a small amount for great coverage over skin. I love this oil because it has a mild floral scent which isn’t overpowering and leaves my skin smelling divine. My verdict is that this oil is the best i have tried as it leaves my skin feeling smoother and better nourished. I have found especially on my breast tissue I have had a vast improvement and my skin looks more healthy  and definitely firmer. The oil is a little more expensive than others on the market but all factors considered i think it is worth paying extra given the results. I think this is a beauty must for mums to be or anyone with tiger stripes that need some care and attention.

The second product I tried was the
Rose Hip & Green Bean Stretch Mark Cream.
(r.r.p £19.99)

image

This comes in 85ml tub and again has a lovely mild aroma. It has a light creamy formula which is easily absorbed into the skin. I use this after bathing in the evening in conjunction with the oil to make my skin feel subtle and smooth. This is luxury in a tub and a product I will continue to use as I am delighted that it has reduced the appearance of my stretchmarks as the range claims to do.

“Salcura’s Stretch Mark Therapy Range helps to reduce the visibility of stretch marks by up to 72%”

But more importantly it has made the condition of my skin much healthier in appearance. I know I will never be totally rid of my tiger stripes as they are part of me and are a gentle reminder of my 3 beautiful children but my body now feels closer to how it did before my children and I’m confident within my skin.

Thank you Salcura for developing the range and I hope you continue to develop amazing products which really do make all the difference.

How important is it to protect our childrens teeth from acid erosion? with Pronamel for Children

Well todays blog is a hot topic for parents out their with children. We all know how important it is for our children to brush thier teeth for good oral health. What’s more , there has been lots in the media recently about poor dental hygiene in children and that our kids are consuming too much sugar. Having 3 children myself I find myself sometimes worried about the amount of sweet treats my children consume so I try to limit what I allow them to have.

But as parents are we missing something? Well for myself the answer is YES!

Acid Wear- or better known as acid erosion. I knew this affected adults and already purchase specialist toothpaste for us grown ups in the house but I had never considered acid erosion affecting my children’s teeth. It was only when I looked at some research conducted by Sensodyne Pronamel that became fully aware of the amount of damage everyday food and drink can do to children’s teeth. They have conducted recent research which shows that acid wear is a growing concern for UK dentists. As a parent I give my children fruit as a snack rather than sweets as its healthier for them but i never considered the risks of acid wear. So this reasearch has enlightened me and it is now something that have a better understanding about so I wanted to share with you all.

Here are some of the facts!

image

So my question was: what can I do to help protect my children’s teeth from acid wear? (Professor David Bartlett- Acid wear specialist and Dentist shares his top tips)

1. Limit the amount of acidic foods and
drinks your child has in a day

2. Avoid brushing after eating

3. Nibble on a tiny bit of cheese or swill
with water or milk after each meal

4. Use a glass and a straw and finish
    drinks quickly

5. Brush twice daily, everyday with a
     Fluoride toothpaste like Pronamel
for children to help re-harden and
     strengthen tooth enamel to keep
     teeth healthy and strong

I find these tips extremely useful and it’s so important to protect children’s teeth as acid wear cannot be reversed.

Here is an acidometer so check out with ice foods are most acidic.

For silky smooth hair with Palmers Co-wash.

As all my readers know I absolutely love and trust the Palmers skincare brand for keeping my skin subtle and soft. So when the lovely people at palmers offered to send me a product from their Haircare range yo review I couldn’t wait to try it.

The product I recieved was the Coconut Oil Formula Cleansing conditioner Co-wssh with vitamin E.

image

My first impressions were that it was a good size at 473ml. I couldnt wait to try as the Co-wash is a non lathering shampoo alternative which is ideal for curly , natural hair and something I hadn’t used before.

On the first use I found the creamy conditioner like formula had a strong coconut smell that reminds me of holidays. I was a little sceptical about this being able to cleanse hair as it was so creamy as I thought it would leave my hair greasy after use but was pleasantly surprised.  The directions for use tell you to use 12-20 pumps which seems a lot, I used 12 as my hair is short. After rubbing into your hair you add a little water to emulsify the product onto your scalp. The Co-wash is sulfate free so no lather is made whilst massaging into hair, which feels strange for a shampoo. After leaving the product on for a few minutes and rinsing my hair felt clean and soft with no build up as I expected due to the creamy formula. After blow drying my hair I was very pleased with the results as my hair was silky, soft, clean, shiny and smelling divine. This was all after the first use.

Benefits of using this range include:-

* Contains Pure Coconut Oil, Keratin and Vitamin E for stronger healthier hair.

* Free from Sulfates, detergents, lather, phthalate,  petrolatum, mineral oil, gluten or dyes so it won’t strip chemically treated, dry damaged or fragile hair.

* It’s an All-in-1 product replacing shampoo, conditioner, hair mask treatment and can be used as a leave in conditioner.

* Ideal for frizzy, Curly, colour treated and natural hair types

My final verdict after a few weeks use.

I have found the Palmers Co-wash to be a fabulous product to use for hair that is in need of some rescuing. I myself found it made my hair smoother and silkier immediately and I would certainly recommend trying it. I did miss the lather of a normal shampoo though so would alternate between the two. This shampoo alternative is one I would use when my hair feels it needs a lift rather than for regular use but that’s myself personally. However, the only negative I did find was that when trying the product as a leave in treatment it made looked greasy once dry.

Have you tried the range? If so what are your thoughts?
